Following momentous ribbon cuttings and a successful grand opening, House of Hope and its partners are getting down to business at the Golden Gate Center for Enrichment – the business of empowering the community.
On the first floor of The Center the computer lab and library services are available throughout the week to the public. Staff and volunteers are on hand eager to assist anyone needing help learning to browse the internet, create an email account, look at job or scholarship listings and more. Books and DVDs can be ordered through the Martin County Library System to be sent to The Center which helps serve those who lack transportation. Library cards can also be issued on-site.
On the second floor a diverse assortment of free classes is already in session with new offerings being added to the calendar daily. Programs currently include workshops on how to quit smoking, financial counseling, domestic and sexual abuse support groups, college preparation opportunities, resume writing assistance, immunizations and health screenings, English as a second language and more.
“House of Hope is excited to bring impactful programs and services into the community to help strengthen individuals and families,” remarks House of Hope CEO Rob Ranieri, “so many partners have come together to help us to achieve our mission to help residents overcome hunger and hardship.”
House of Hope is seeking additional business and agency partners to offer courses in the areas of arts and culture, professional development, family nutrition and health, and local vocational prospects – all at no cost to the public.
For many of the classes and workshops, pre-registering is required and may be accomplished by visiting the online calendar of classes at goldengatecentermc.org.
