House of Hope would like to thank the many groups and individuals who answered the call for turkeys in the week leading up to Thanksgiving.
House of Hope had a list of 360 families who needed help with a turkey dinner, and the demand was greater than our supply. We turned to the community for help and were overjoyed by the response.
Individuals, businesses, churches, schools, etc., donated so many turkeys that it took care of our Thanksgiving list and provided a head start on Christmas. A big boost came from the Big Heart Brigade, which provided 120 turkeys.
Annual food drives also provided tons of nonperishable food to help stock House of Hope’s food pantries beyond Thanksgiving. Monetary donations also were designated to assist the Thanksgiving drive, including $1,000 from St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Treasure Coast Food Bank provided nearly 200 $10 gift cards for groceries at Winn Dixie.
House of Hope touches the lives of about 5,000 Martin County residents per month with services that include basic needs — food, clothing, furniture, financial assistance — and long-term case management that helps people build life skills for a more self-sufficient future.
